Doug Collins enjoying a quite drink after his excellent score of 40 points to win the comp
Bathurst Golf Vets report for game played Monday December 29
Hi everyone,
Another good field of 43 Bathurst golf vets enjoyed the last vets’ game for 2025 in beautiful weather conditions. Not a cloud to be seen in the blue sky, not a breath of wind and temperature at about 20 degrees which made it difficult to find something to blame for our bad golf shots.
Someone who didn’t play any bad golf shots today was Doug Collins who enjoyed his best game of 2025 to take out first place in the comp with a magnificent 40 points. Doug started off like a house on fire with 22 points on the front nine and follow up the last nine with a solid 18 points on the back nine.
It took a three-way count back to decide the next three positions when Graham Tyson, Ted Healy from Lithgow and Paul Rosconi all returned scores of 39 points. Graham took out the honour of second place by scoring 23 points on the back nine. But the battle for third place went down to the last six holes when Ted and Paul scored 22 points for the last nine holes. Ted’s 16 points in the last six gave him third place with Paul coming fourth.
Deciding fifth place was easy, Kevin Callaughan took the spot when he was the only one with a score of 38 points.
The ball sweep went down to 35 points on a countback. Glenn Campbell was the unlucky one to miss out.
The nearest to the pin winners were Chris Hadson on the 4th, Graham Lee on the 8th, Jon Manton on the 13th and Mark McKinnon on the 16th.
