Bathurst Golf vets report for Monday August 11
Hi everyone
The weather is warming up and so are the scores on Monday vets’ competition where in a field of 33 players you needed to score 34 points just to be considered to get a ball in the ball sweep.
Best of all today was a very good supporter of vets’ golf Bill Dickie with a magnificent score of 41 points. Bill played solid golf throughout his round with 20 points on the front nine followed with 21 points on the back nine.
There was a three-way count back for the other prize winners when Graeme Jones, Jon Manton and Richard Ellis all returned scores of 38 points. Richard had a fantastic front nine for 23 points and looked good for a big win but the back nine let him down and had to settle for fourth place. Jon also had a good start of 20 points on the front nine and a solid 18 points on the back nine but was relegated to third place when Graeme Jones kept his cool throughout with two solid nines of 19 points to take out second place.
The ball sweep went down to 34 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Richard Ellis on the 4th, Graeme Jones on the 8th, Doug Collins on the 13th and Helen Fagan showed the guys how to get close to the pin by winning the 16th.
