Bathurst Golf Vets report for game played Monday January 19
Hi everyone,
Another big day of vets’ golf at Bathurst Golf club with 53 veteran golfer taking part on our weekly Monday vets’ golf.
The day was a cracking summer’s day with lots of sunshine and little wind to be concerned about which was the right recipe for good scoring, and so it was for Mark Mckinnon who won today’s comp with a magnificent score of 44 points. Mark had a very good start to his round with 20 points on the front nine and continued with 24 points on the back nine holes that included an eagle on the 14th hole. Yes, you got it right, 2 shots for the hole and 6 points for the card. Well done, Mark.
A countback was needed to decide second and third place when Bill Dickie and Peter Warren returned scores of 40 points. Peter played solid golf throughout with 20 points on each nine. Bill started slowly with 17 points on the front nine but came home with a wet sail on the back nine for 23 points that got him second palace. Peter settled for third.
A three-way countback was required to decide the next two place getters when Danny Gooley, Paul Rosconi and Tim Johnston each getting 39 points for their round. Danny got fourth place with 21 points on the back nine. The countback for fifth place went down to the last 6 holes with Paul’s 14 points edging out Tim’s 12 points. Paul took out fifth place and Tim settled for a ball on the ball sweep.
The ball sweep went down to 33 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Rod Fraser on the 4th, John Manton on the 8th, Peter Warren on the 13th and Greg Guest on the 16th
