Peter Warren contemplating about all the good shots he played to win today's comp
Bathurst Golf vets report for game played Monday January 5
Hi everyone,
A very good field of 53 players enjoyed the first game of Bathurst vets for 2026.
I have said before and I need to say it again, “You need to bring your A game with you if you want to be on the podium when you play in a Bathurst vets comp” and so it was today. You needed 37 points and a good back nine to get a prize.
Someone who had a good front and back nine was Peter Warren who won today’s comp with an excellent 41 points. Peter played solid golf throughout with 20 points on the front nine and 21 on the back nine to show everyone else a clean pair of heels .
The computer had to work overtime to decide second and third place when Trevor Kingham and Eric Whalan from Oberon both had scores of 38 points for the round. Trevor and Eric both had 20 points on the last 9 holes and 15 on the last six which brought the countback to the last three holes. Trevor had a 4 pointer on the 16th hole for his 9 points to take out second place and Eric had to settle for third with 8 points.
There was also a three-way countback to decide fourth and fifth place when Darrell Bourke, David Gates and Martin Everett finished their round with 37 points. Once again, the countback went down to the last 6 holes when David and Martin had 19 points on the last nine. David took out fourth with 12 points on the last six to Martin’s 11 points who settle for fifth place. Darrell had 18 points on the back nine but had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.
The ball sweep went down to 33 points on a count back and the nearest to the pin winners were, David Parkes on the 4th, Manuel Pro on the 8th and David Galvin on the 13th. The NTP marker was missing on the 16th, if you know where it is, please give it to the Proshop so we can have it back for next game.
