John Fagan feeling quite happy after his big win in today's comp
Bathurst Golf vets report game played Monday March 9
Hi everyone,
Another good field of 48 Bathurst vets and visitors played in Monday vets’ competition on a perfect day of autumn weather.
Best on the day today was John Fagan with an excellent score of 40 points. John played solid golf for 19 points on the first nine holes. After a sluggish start on the back nine, he recovered strongly on the last six holes with four pars and two birdies for 21 points.
Second place went to Leo Attard with 38 points. Leo started like a house on fire on the first nine holes for 21 points, but he must have run out of fuel on the back nine.
Third place went to Darren Healey, a regular visitor to Monday vets from Lithgow, with 37 points. Darren played solid golf with scores of 19 and 18 points on the respective nines.
There was a three-way countback to decide fourth and fifth place when Helen Fagan, Hal Ricark-Bell and David Travis all returned scores of 36 points. When the calculations were done, the computer found that Helen consistency of two equal nines of 18 points where good enough for fourth place. Hal got fifth place and David had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep. Both run badly out of puff on the back nine.
The ball sweep went down to 30 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Peter Warren on the 4th, Ted Healey on the 8th, John Fagan on the 13th and Neil Larcombe on the 16th.
