Darrell Bourke keeping his eyes on one of the many good shots he played today
Bathurst golf vets report for game played Monday December 8.
Hi everyone,
A good field of 39 Bathurst vets played a round of Monday vets golf at Bathurst golf club.
The weather was nice and cool in the early morning becoming quite hot towards the end of the game but nowhere near as hot as the golf scores.
The local vets were on fire today as far as the golf was concerned. You needed to score over 40 points to be considered for a place on the podium and scoring 36 points was not a guarantee to get a ball on the ball sweep.
Best on the day was Michael Selman with an excellent score 42 points. Michael was solid throughout his game scoring two very consistent nines of 21 points.
A countback was needed to decide the next three podium spots when Darrell Bourke, Manuel Pro and Paul Stirling all had scores of 41 points. Darrell took out second place with a score of 23 points on the back nine that included birdies on the 12, 14 and 15 holes. Manuel had to settle with third with 21 points on the back nine and Paul had to settle for fourth running out of puff on the back nine after and excellent start of 22 points on the front nine.
The ball sweep went down to 36 points on a count back with John Zugajev being the unlucky one to miss out.
Nearest to the pin winners were Kevin Callaughan on the 4th, Gary Pomeroy on the 8th, Jon Manton on the 13th and Garry Giddings on the 16th.
Prizes and ball sweep
Next round of Central West vets will be at Bathurst on December 15. It will be the Christmas Cheer Day with hams as prizes in the offering. The cost for the day will be $30 which will include morning tea on arrival and a light lunch at the end of play.
It will also be the trophy presentation to the Championship and The Ultimate Golf Challenge winners for 2025.
Good golfing everyone
