Bathurst Golf vets report for game played Monday September 7

Hi everyone,

The first Monday vets’ game for this year’s spring season was welcome by 48 very keen Bathurst vets’ golfers happy to say goodbye to winter and looking forward to the coming warmer weather.

The one player who enjoyed the game more than most was competition winner Colleen Davis with a score of 41 points. Colleen didn’t have it all her on way having to survive a very tight countback with Tim Johnston also playing excellent golf to equal Colleen’s score of 41 points. The score cards showed a reversal of fortunes. Tim started of strongly for 22 points on the first nine and 19 points on the back nine. Colleen had a solid first nine for 19 points and came home strongly on the back nine with 22 points to win the countback and the first-place prize.

Third was the very consistent Chris Hadson with 39 points. Fourth place went to Mark McKinnon with 38 points.

The fifth and last prize went to Geoff Marshall on a count back from Chris Burke with both scoring 37 points. Geoff’s score of 21 points to Chris’ 17 points on the back nine got him the last spot on the podium.

The ball sweep went down to 33 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Arthur Clancy on the 4th, Peter Chaffey on the 8th and 16th and Darrell Bourke on the 13th.

Unfortunately, there will be no vets game on Monday September 14 due to the coring of the greens. However, you can save yourselves for the game the following Monday September 21 when the Central West Vets will come to play a round on our golf course.

Word of advice, get your name down early if have a preferred time slot. It will be a big field.
