Doug Collins consoling himself with a drink after missing out in the ball sweep on a countback for the umpteen time
Bathurst Golf Vets’ report for game played Monday May 25.
Hi everyone,
Once again, we had a very good field of 50 players playing our regular Monday vets’ comp at Bathurst Golf Club.
The weather was good and so were the scores with half the field scoring 30 points or more for their round.
Best on the day was Ben Bickmore-Hutt with an excellent score of 41 points. Ben played very solid golf throughout the round starting with a birdie on the first followed by 8 pars, and 8 bogies, and a score on the 9th that he would much rather forget about.
Second was Colin Jamieson with 38 points. Colin started the front nine with 20 points and continued the second nine with a solid 18 points
Two visitors, Steve Woodward and Sue Waddell shared third and fourth places with Steve getting the third spot with 37 points and Sue getting fourth with 36 points.
The computer had to work overtime to decide fifth spot when Garry Pomeroy, Gil Luck, Geoff Marshall and Rodney Graham all returned scores of 35 points. When the dust settled, Garry took out the fifth place with an excellent 21 points on the back nine.
The ball sweep went down to 31 points on a countback with Doug Collins just missing out of a ball. The nearest to the pin winners were Gil Luck on the 4th, Garry Giddings on the 8th, Michael Selman on the 13th and Ben Bickmore-Hutt on the 16th.
