Bathurst Golf vets report for game played Monday August 3

Hi everyone,

Another very good round of Bathurst golf vets enjoyed by 59 Bathurst players which was the biggest vets’ field that has ever played at the club outside of Central West vets’ visits.

The weather was cold but that was not the case with the scores, where a score of 38 points was no guaranty to get a prize voucher as Tim Johnston found out. He had 38 points but got done on a countback for a prize. He had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

On to results

Arthur Clancy was the winner today with an excellent score of 42 points. Arthur started off with a double and a miss on the first two holes but recovered to score 19 points on the front nine and kept the good golf going on the next nine holes with 23 points.

Geoff Marshall also played excellent golf for a round of 40 points with two very solid nines of 21 and 19 points respectively but had to settle for second place.

David Gates took out third place with 39 points. David had two solid nines of 18 and 21 points.

There was a four-way countback to decide the next three prize winners when Ann Covington, Glenn Hope, Garry Pomeroy and Tim Johnston all had scores of 38 points. When the dust settled the computer gave Ann fourth, Glenn fifth and Garry the last prize. Unfortunately, Tim had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

The ball sweep went down to 32 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Garry Pomeroy on the 4th, Danny Gooley on the 8th, Paul Stirling on the 13th and David Gates on the 16th
